Michael New

Executive Director - Michael New


Michael New came to the Sephardic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the early 1980’s.

Michael’s parents were born in Czechoslovakia and survived the Holocaust. At the end of the war, Michael’s sister, Margaret, was born in a refugee camp in Germany. In 1949, his parents and sister immigrated to the United States. Michael was born on October 31, 1951 on his sister’s 5th birthday.

Norman Cohen

Senior Vice President, Administration - Norman Cohen


Norman Cohen was born in Brooklyn, New York. His parents were from Brooklyn, New York and Wilmington, Delaware. His grandparents were originally from Russia and Romania. Mr. Cohen received an Associates degree in Recreation Leadership from Kingsborough Community College and a B.S. degree Cum Laude from the City University of New York where he received the honorable mention for Recreation Club Award from KCC and an award for the Student Council.

Jay Mostel

Vice President, Finance - Jay Mostel


Born in the Bronx currently residing in Oceanside, Long Island, both of Jay’s parents were born in New York and his grandparents were immigrants (Ashkenazi Jews) from Austria.

He is married to Lonnie, a Nurse Practitioner In New York City, and has two daughters - Deborah and Meredith. Deborah is a School teacher in New Jersey and is married to Seth. Meredith lives in Riverdale and is a fashion designer who is married to Steve. Jay and Lonnie have six grandchildren - Caleb, Zev, Sam, Sivan, Olivia, and Akiva.
